A simple 15-minute daily English speaking routine works better than a long weekly class: 2 minutes of warm-up reading aloud, 3 minutes of shadowing a short audio clip, 5 minutes of speaking on one topic (with an AI partner or a recording app), 3 minutes of reviewing mistakes and new words, and 2 minutes of speaking again using what you learned. Do it at the same time every day, keep a simple log, and change the topic daily. Most learners notice they speak more smoothly within a few weeks because speaking, like any skill, improves with regular repetition.
- Fifteen minutes every day beats two hours once a week.
- Speak out loud. Silent reading doesn’t train your mouth.
- Shadowing builds rhythm and pronunciation fast.
- Review only two or three mistakes per day, then use them again.
- Use the free Lumi AI English Robot as your daily speaking partner.
The gym problem
Imagine joining a gym and going once a month for four hours. You’d be exhausted, sore, and no stronger. Now imagine 15 minutes of exercise every single morning. After two months, you’d feel the difference.
Speaking English works the same way. Many learners in Bangladesh study grammar for years, read well and write well, but freeze when they have to speak. They don’t lack knowledge. They lack daily practice of actually opening their mouth and putting sentences together in real time.
This routine fixes that, in less time than a cup of tea.
The 15-minute routine
| Minutes | Activity | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 2 | Read a short paragraph aloud | Warms up your mouth and voice |
| 2 to 5 | Shadow a short audio clip | Builds rhythm, linking and pronunciation |
| 5 to 10 | Speak about today’s topic | Trains thinking and speaking in real time |
| 10 to 13 | Review 2 or 3 mistakes and new words | Turns errors into learning |
| 13 to 15 | Speak again on the same topic | Uses corrections immediately so they stick |
How to do each part
1. Read aloud (2 minutes)
Pick a short news paragraph, a page of a story or a blog post. Read slowly and clearly. Don’t worry about understanding every word.
2. Shadowing (3 minutes)
Play a 20 to 40 second clip of a clear speaker: a podcast, news report or YouTube lesson. Pause after each sentence and repeat it with the same rhythm and intonation. Then try speaking at the same time as the speaker, like a shadow.
3. Speak on a topic (5 minutes)
Choose one topic per day and talk about it for five minutes. Use an AI partner that responds to you, or record yourself on your phone. Ask yourself follow-up questions to keep going.
4. Review (3 minutes)
Listen back or read the AI’s corrections. Write down two or three mistakes and one or two useful new words or phrases. No more.
5. Speak again (2 minutes)
Talk about the same topic again, using your corrections. This is where improvement actually happens.
