The Elementor MCP, added in Elementor 4.3, lets outside AI assistants such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and Codex connect to your WordPress site and build or edit Elementor pages directly. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI call tools on a server. You enable it under Elementor, Elementor MCP, choose your AI client and paste the generated setup prompt into that tool. It works with the Atomic Editor.
- MCP lets your own AI assistant work on your Elementor site.
- It builds layouts from native Atomic elements you can edit later.
- The Atomic Editor must be active.
- Give it a dedicated user and use staging.
- Ask the AI to undo via revisions if something goes wrong.
What can an AI do through the Elementor MCP?
- Create pages and layouts from Flexbox and Grid containers and atomic elements.
- Edit existing content, styles, Variables and Classes.
- Rename layers in the Structure panel so pages stay organised.
- In 4.4 (beta): work with more classic widgets, WooCommerce widgets, popup triggers and form submissions, read system information, clear caches and revert changes through revisions.
How to enable the Elementor MCP
- Update Elementor to 4.3 or later and back up the site.
- Activate the Atomic Editor under Elementor, Editor, Settings.
- Go to Elementor, Elementor MCP and click Enable MCP access.
- Pick your client (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor or Other), accept the notice and generate the prompt.
- Paste the prompt into your AI tool and follow its connection steps.

Elementor MCP vs a general WordPress MCP
| Type | Works on | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Elementor MCP | Elementor layouts, elements, styles | Building and editing pages |
| WordPress MCP | Posts, media, users, settings, plugins | Content and site management |
Many people connect both, so one assistant can write a blog post and design its landing page.
How to use it safely
An MCP connection is like handing someone a key to your site. Create a separate user with only the access it needs, connect to a staging site first, keep backups, and review changes before going live. Never paste credentials into prompts or shared chats. Read WordPress user roles explained to choose the right access.
